Some changes to SLaM training profiles and delivery take effect at the end of the 2023 appraisal window. These changes have been agreed by the Trust’s Mandatory and Statutory Training (MAST) Committee and training leads. SLaM training remains in alignment with NHS England’s Core Skills Training Framework.
The changes from September 1st 2023 are:
- Dual Diagnosis
- The Dual Diagnosis Level 1 training course will be mandatory for all clinical staff (previously just nursing staff)
- This e-learning (1 hour) has been on LEAP for years so many staff will have already completed it.
- HPV.
- All CAMHS Clinical staff will do training for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- This e-learning (15 minutes) has been on LEAP since 2021 so some staff will have already completed it.
- Safeguarding Children Level 3
- All CAMHS Clinical staff will do this advanced level of Safeguarding Children training (previously staff at Band 6+).
- Non-CAMHS Clinical staff at Band 6+ also need to do this training whether they work with children directly or not (no change).
- New staff or those newly assigned to this training are allowed 12 months for initial completion.
- Trust Welcome Day (Induction).
- TWD has always been mandatory. From now on, recent starters who have not completed it will show as non-compliant and their managers will be alerted.
