Introduction of mandatory Patient Safety training

Background

This training sits as part of the new NHS Patient Safety Strategy. We feel this training is so important that we have made it mandatory.

The aim is to improve the patient safety culture of teams and improve patient safety systems, leading to safer patients.

The training will be live from 1st February 2023.

Level 1: Essentials of Patient Safety for all staff

This is to be completed by all staff, regardless of role. It involves a thirty-minute e-learning package.

Level 1B: Essentials of Patient Safety for Boards and Senior Leadership Teams

This training is to be completed by board members and senior leadership, in addition to the level one training. It involves a twenty-minute e-learning package.

Level 2 Patient Safety: Access to Practice

This training is intended for all staff in patient care.

What does this mean for you?

• All staff that fall into the above categories will have the Patient Safety course added to their mandatory training profile on LEAP
