- Are your employment records up to date on ESR and showing correctly on LEAP?
How to check LEAP - Click on your Name in the top right of the page > view your Profile > scroll to Job Assignment >click the link beneath to view the ID Number > view your Job Role/Staff Group.
If these details are wrong, your manager will need to get the Trust’s employment records (ESR) corrected. This is an issue with those ESR records, not LEAP. Please see the FAQ Help section - My manager is listed as the wrong person.
- Are you a member of staff on Maternity Leave, Long Term Sickness or Career Break?
Your ESR record should have been updated by your manager following the steps above, but if you find you still have an active appraisal form then you don’t need to do anything; your Appraiser should indicate you have met your objectives, rate you as acceptable in the End of Year Assessment, and finalise the form.
- Are you a staff member on an Honorary contract, including Social Worker or Doctor?
Please note for staff on these contracts the host employer, not SLaM, is responsible for carrying out appraisals, so you will not do an Appraisal in LEAP. Even if your name appears on your SLaM manager’s My Team listing, there will be no appraisal option for you in LEAP. If you think there is a reason you should have an appraisal whilst on an honorary contract, please ask your manager to discuss this with your HR Business Partner.
- Had your manager delegated your appraisal to be carried out by another team member?
Your manager should action this by going to My Team > and selecting ‘Choose appraiser’ next to your name on their list. Please direct your manager to the FAQ – ‘Appraisal: As a manager, I want to delegate appraisal of a team member’
- Has your Appraiser clicked the ‘Appraiser’ button on their My Appraisees screen?
Please note if your manager clicks the ‘Manager button on their My Team screen, they will be able to view but not add to your appraisal forms. If this happens, your manager should go back to My Appraisees screen and click ‘Appraiser’.
- Do you have existing Performance Objectives and Development Goals?
If none of these exist from previous years, you will need to create and enter at least one of each before your appraiser can add further Objectives/Development Goals.
- Remember to click Save at the bottom of each form on your Appraisals – Always.
- When do I know if the appraisal is complete?
When you and the appraiser have finalised the appraisal on the End of Year form, it will be marked as complete. A small number of appraisals then get revised in the Calibration process carried out by HR Business Partners; in this case, your appraisal may briefly show as “in progress” again, but after Calibration changes, it will again be marked as complete.
