The Supervision options within LEAP were updated in July 2026. Here's the basics:
1. What to record for supervision?
- You can type in any notes on LEAP with the details of the session.
- Or you may upload files with the session details, or provide links to relevant files elsewhere (e.g. on SharePoint).
- You must observe Confidentiality rules and policy with Supervision records.
- Management, Professional, and Clinical Supervision are the types of supervision session. Each type may now be recorded on LEAP by either the supervisor or supervisee, depending on what has been agreed between them.
2. Who adds it to LEAP?
- Either Supervisor or Supervisee can record the session
- Supervisor status does not need any setting up; you do not need to be set up as that person's "manager".
- Any staff member can also record supervision for or on behalf of other staff, e.g. if you are a ward administrator and are tasked to log /upload the team's supervision details.
- Supervision records should remain agreed between the supervisor and supervisee, regardless of who enters the record onto LEAP.
3. Whereabouts on LEAP?
- "Add Supervision" is the main place to go, and you will see this screen:
- Use either "Manager" or Supervisor" box if you were the supervisor: both these options work the same, but under "Manager" you should have to search less, as your reporting staff (as per LEAP) are already listed there.
- Use "Supervisee" if you were the supervisee.
- Use the LEAP top menu links if you are adding supervision for Others, adding Group supervision, or where you had an External supervisor (i.e. someone outside SLaM).
4. Agreeing supervision records, Editing, Commenting
- Either Supervisor or Supervisee can View or Edit the session details as recorded on LEAP
- Either Supervisor or Supervisee can add Comments on LEAP (e.g. to register agreement or disagreement), and these will be visible to both as a message thread.
- A supervision session entered on LEAP cannot be deleted by either party, but the LEAP Admins can delete a record on request (e.g. if accidentally entered for the wrong person. "Comments" cannot normally be deleted).
5. Finding, listing and reporting on Supervision
- All My Supervision Sessions now gives a detailed listing of your Supervision sessions (as supervisee)
- All My Reports' Supervision Sessions now gives a summary listing of Supervision sessions for your direct and indirect reports
- Collated Supervision Compliance reports are still being produced monthly and published on LEAP; and work is underway to develop a similar reporting dashboard within Deming.
