When booking classroom sessions on courses please ensure, as far as possible, you are able to attend on the date booked. Booking yourself on a session blocks places for others who may wish to attend and cancellations can result in unfilled places, at a cost to the Trust.
If you wish to book on a course:
- Go to My Essential Learning on the menu on the home page> click Record of Learning > click on the Course Name of the course you a would like to attend > go to the Classroom Sessions section > Scroll to the date you wish to attend > Click on Sign-up
** You may only make one booking for a course's Classroom Session at a time, even if you are on the waiting list. Multiple dates cannot be held for participants.
Waiting list
If a date you wish to attend is fully booked you will automatically be placed on the waiting list for that session. If a participant cancels a place will automatically be allocated to the next person on the waiting list. Therefore, even if you are on the waiting list, please ensure you are still able to attend on the day booked. If you cannot attend please cancel and you will be taken off the waiting list. You will then be able to book another date.
If you wish to cancel a course:
Please note, booking places takes up availability for others. It is advised, where possible, not to book unless you ensure you can attend on that date. Cancelling means that a place has been taken up from the time you booked until the time you cancelled. This reduces availability of training places across the Trust and can result in unused places. There is a cost to the Trust for each training place provided.
If you are unable to attend training you may cancel this via LEAP up to 7 days for MAST courses or 14 days for CPPD courses prior to the session. You can cancel your bookings by doing the following:
- Go to My Essential Learning on the menu on the home page> click My Bookings > click on the Course Name of the training session you are unable to attend > go to Classroom Sessions at the bottom of the page > Under Options click Cancel booking for your session > you must enter the reason for your cancellation in the Cancellation note field.
A notification email will be sent to your manager to inform them of the cancellation. Please note we are monitoring occurrences of cancellations to better understand reasons for places not being used.
You will be unable to book an alternative session on a course until you have cancelled your original booking. This is to avoid multiple places being blocked to other staff.
If you are unable to notify us you cannot attend
If you do not email the LEAP inbox or call the training administration team, it will result in you showing as 'Did Not Attend' the figures of which are being monitored by the Executive Leadership team.
If you need to cancel less than 7 days or 14 days before training email leap@slam.nhs.uk for MAST or workforcedevelopment@slam.nhs.uk for CPPD with your reason for cancelling. This this will be processed manually and your manager will be informed.
